Lake Honeyeater walk

This is a circuit walk which takes a little over 2 hours – includes stops for field book activities. The walk includes 20 minutes beach walk and 40 minutes walk thorugh low heathlands. On this walk we see sevral parasitic plants. Before the walk students see a video showing many of these parasitic plants. The walk finishes by wading through Blue Lagoon followed by a swim before lunch.

Sand Toboganning

Sand toboganning is conducted at the Sandhills. This is the most popular activity with speeds in excess of 30 kph being reached. (Timed with a GPS!) . The camp programme is kept flexible, so we can go to the Sandhills when conditions are most suitable for toboganning. Dry sand is a must and strong winds can make conditions unbearable. As we travel over 20 kilometers along the beach a lowish tide is needed to make the 4WD bus trip enjoyable. As the bus is stationed at camp with us we can schedule the Sandhills trip when conditions best suit toboganning.

Snorkelling an optional extra - $25

Snorkelling is conducted by Get Wet sports. Snorkelling must be done on the day we arrive or leave. Snorkelling requires a changing tide, when currents are minimal. Get Wet sports are based at Tangalooma, and have lots of experience with primary students. Before snorkelling instruction is given regarding saftey and poisonous animals that could be encountered. Students are provided with all equipoment needed including wet suits and gloves. Kick boards are provided for those lacking confidence. Cost is $20 excluding GST
